What to Expect During Your Breast Augmentation Surgery
The surgery for breast augmentation takes approximately 1 ½ – 2 hours and is performed at our state-of-the-art surgical facility, Renewal Surgery Center. Renewal Surgery Center is located in the same structure as bod:evolve, helping to make your entire surgical experience as easy and pleasant as possible.
What To Expect Post Surgery
Breast augmentation is a major procedure, and you should expect to feel tired and sore for a few days after your surgery. The healing process will take some time, and our staff will help to educate you on your recovery medication, bandages and caring for your incisions.
Most Patients Return to Work a Week After SurgeryEveryone heals differently, but most patients are able to return to work the week after surgery. You may drive once you have been off your pain medication for 24 hours, and you should avoid physical stimulation of the breast for a 3-4 weeks after surgery. Your operative scars will also take time to blend in with the rest of your body.
What Are the Risks Associated with Breast Augmentation?
When considering cosmetic surgery, you have the right to know all possible risks associated with a given procedure. Any surgery has risks associated with it, but breast augmentation surgery is a well-researched procedure, and the risk of complications is quite low.
Rare but Potential Side Effects:
- excessive bleeding
- capsular contracture
- nerve damage
- saline leaks (saline is safe and will be naturally absorbed by your body, however your implant will need to be replaced.)
Mammograms with Breast ImplantsAfter your breast augmentation, it is recommended that you continue to receive routine mammograms. Mammographic technicians can account for breast implants in their readings, so your implants will not affect the reliability of your mammogram.
